The skills of using bamboo to create useful tools might be even older than the practice of cultivating rice. This lamp originated from a "passive" fish-trap, a traditional utensil made by farmers in North and Northeast Thailand. Differently from the active fishing traps used to hunt the fishes, the passive ones are placed at specific spots in rivers, canals or lakes with a bait to attract fishes that can easily come into the trap but are not able to get out due to an attached piece with sharp pointed sticks closing the entrance.
It is a lightweight lampshade that does not contain any metal structure and can be hung directly onto the electrical cord. The design combines different weaving techniques and it is as sophisticated as rustic.
Handcrafted by villagers of Northern Thailand this low-tech lampshade does not contain any metal structure and can be hung directly onto the electrical cord without the need of a hanging chain.
